Design Ron Bateman, architect
Ron grew up in Indiana. He traveled the Alcan as a child and moved to Alaska as a young adult in 1979. Ron studied architecture at the University of Texas at Austin where he received a Masters of Architecture in 1989. Along the way he received the School of Architecture University Graduate Fellowship and many other academic honors, including the American Institute of Architects scholarship medal. Subsequently, he taught at the University of Texas with Charles Moore, in the Moore graduate studio program. For about 10 years prior to entering the graduate design program, he worked in construction trades in Indiana and Alaska. His undergraduate degree is in religion, earned at Indiana Wesleyan University in 1971. In Alaska he worked as an architect for 6 years with Livingston Slone, Inc and 4 years with Koonce Pfeffer Bettis, Inc. In 2005 he began his own practice.
